The Talent of Mr. Hillman Curtis

Hillman Curtis recently released a brand new short film entitled Bridge along with a new site design. To me, Hillman Curtis has produced some of the most amazing short films that I have ever seen. He seems to capture the feelings and emotions of his characters perfectly. Without any true character development to build on, each film still has the immense feeling that you understand the people taking part in the story.
This is the talent of Hillman Curtis.

I have a finished post in my draft pile titled “The Best Vodcaster Alive.” No prizes for guessing.

Curtis is just outta control lately. His portrait of Lawrence Weiner, that first half in particular, is some of the best stuff I’ve seen all year — theater, tv, internet, wherever. Good pick.

Yes Dan, I agree. It’s so exciting to get an email saying that his latest video is out. And Lawrence Weiner was very good, I am going to go watch it again now since you brought it up. Looking forward to your post!

Agreed. Hillman is a genius. His book, “MTIV: Process, Inspiration and Practice for the New Media Designer” is one of my favorites. Definitely in my top 10 of books that inspire me.

Dan beat me to it…I was going to recommend his Lawrence Weiner short. Heck, I’m still recommending it.
    Good stuff.

I had actually forgotten about Mr. Curtis, or at least forgotten his name. I read his book on Flash back in -99, and was amazed by how he was always focusing on the creative aspect more than the technical part without losing sight of how things are actually done. I was almost going into film school after reading that.

    Kudos for the reminder.
